Welcome to the St. Raymond School web site and domain. St. Raymond is a private Catholic K-8 elementary school located in Downey, California. We are part of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Please come back and visit the site often as changes are made daily.
The school office is closed for the month of July. The office will reopen part-time beginning Monday, August 2 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The office will open full time beginning Monday, August 16. Full time hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Incoming 5 through 8 grade students are required to complete reading projects during the summer. Completed projects are due on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 25. Students are to complete all pages of each journal/assignment and the packet must be signed by their parent.
- Incoming 5th Grade: Read At First Sight and The Black Stallion. For each book, write or type a 2-page book report (students are to turn in 2 reports). The book report must describe the story line, name two problems with the story line and how the problems are fixed. For each report discuss one main character in the story and tell something about him/her (example: honest, stubborn, etc.) Include a drawing of any part of the book and a cover page with your name and the title of the book. Each report will be worth 100 points for a total of 200 points.
- Incoming 6th Grade: Complete the reading journal for The Egypt Game. Once that is done, create and color 12 portraits of any hero, god or monster mentioned in Heores, Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths. Create an illustration that depicts their story. Write a brief summary of this story on the back of your portrait. Collect all 12 portraits into a book and design the book cover. For extra credit, create more than 12 portraits and typye your summaries.

- The school office will remain open throughout the month of June from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The school office will close for the summer on Wednesday, June 30 at 3:00 PM. The school re-opens part-time on Monday, August 2 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Final Registration will be held in Msgr. Gipson Hall on the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, August 10 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Wednesday, August 11 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
- Thursday, August 12 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Kindergarten Open House will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at 7:00 PM in Msgr. Gipson Hall. All incoming Kindergartners and their parents are invited to attend.
- School Uniformity will be on campus on Thursday, August 19 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the Old Hall (cafeteria).
- The New Parent Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 19 at 7:00 PM in Msgr. Gipson Hall. All families new to St. Raymond School must attend this meeting. The meeting is for adults only; please leave your children at home.
- Wednesday, August 25 is the first day of school for students in grades 1 - 8. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.
- Thursday, August 26 is the first day of school for Kindergarten students. All students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.
- Students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM on Friday, August 27.
- Monday, August 30 is the first full day of school (7:55 Am to 2:55 PM).
